5 Days Old {SE MN Newborn Photographer}

This handsome little fella visited us at just 5 days old. He was a perfect little gentleman for his first photo session, and we got so many precious photos of him!! His parents brought a deer hat and Dad’s bow for us to incorporate, and they came out SO cute!!!

Fall Engagement {SE MN Engagement Couple Portrait Photographer}

Back in October, we had the pleasure of meeting up with Maddi and Justin for their engagement session. It was a windy and cold day, but sunny. The colors were looking extra vibrant, providing the perfect scenery for their session. We are so glad they were willing to brave the cold and the wind because their portraits turned out beautifully.

August Session {SE MN Children’s Portrait Photographer}

Since it’s so incredibly cold out today and many of us have been stuck in the house for the last 3 days due to the weather and school being canceled, it seems like a good day to reminisce and share in this brother-sister session that we did back on a nice HOT day in August. I have been photographing them both since they were newborns. Love watching them grow. I often think Miss E is 5 going on 30 by the conversations we have during our sessions, she definitely loves to be social, she genuinely has a heart for people and is an old soul- wise beyond her years even though she hasn’t even started kindergarten, yet. And Mr. J at 2 may be quiet but you can see the wheels turning with his curious expressions as he takes everything in.

Enjoy the photos! Only one more day of extreme cold and then this weekend with the 40 degree temps forecasted, we will all think it’s spring here in Minnesota and we can all get back outside and enjoy the outdoors a bit, again. YAY!

Photo Display Ideas {SE MN Portrait Photographer}

You’ve had your session and picked out your favorites. Now for displaying them in your home.   Here are a few  favorite  display ideas.

Display your mounted photos with our new print accessory – a wood block.   We have them in 3 different finishes- maple, bamboo or walnut and  also 4 different sizes.  This print stand creates a unique desk accessory to display your photos.

Or use a plate rack or our metal easel to showcase your favorite photos.  We also have black metal easels available in 3 sizes. Shown below is a metallic print.

A more modern way to display print is on our other new print accessory- metal display stands.  Metal Display Stands are an easy and creative way to showcase prints. The stands are available in 2 sizes and 2 finishes- acid washed or graphite. Furthermore, these would be great in an office to add notes or business cards to.

Frame your photos. Framed prints are a classic choice, and they look great in any setting.   Our framed prints help preserve prints for years to come. We have many great framing options from timeless and traditional with our black, cherry, iron, bronze, toffee crunch and rum raisin frames to sleek and modern with our black, white and gray slim frames and metal frames to one-of-a-kind with our reclaimed barn wood from MN frames to adding a pop of color with our distressed  frames that are available in 8 colors.

Once you have your framed prints, hang them on the wall, display them on a flat surface with an easel back, or layer them on a ledge. Layering and overlapping multiple frames, adding in a canvas, and different sizes  makes a dynamic display.

This is actually one of my photo wall displays. Sizes on the shelves range from  5×7’s to 8×10’s to an 11×14 and a 10×20 collage.   If you ever need help with designing a wall display, please let us know. We can even show you exactly what it would like on your wall if you send us a photo of the wall.

Metal prints give your home decor an ultra-modern feel. Metal prints are eye-catching and can  make a statement all on its own. You can also create endless configurations by grouping several metal prints together or mixing them with framed prints. Metal prints are an artistic way to display dramatic images, action shots, bold colors, cars, and industrial settings are perfect for metal prints.  Shown below are the bold colors from a unicorn shoot on a rounded metal and the aftermath of a mud fight with 3 cousins in a creek.

Some fun and different ideas that you may have never thought of include image cubes, wood prints and layered wood block displays.  A single wooden print is a contemporary product with a classic look. The beauty of the grain comes through on the lighter colors and white areas of your image giving it a soft and warm feel. Image Cubes, big and small, look different from all 6 sides and are a fun way to commemorate a special event or create a striking hands-on display. You can see an image cube in my wall display photo above as well.  My personal favorite are image cubes for newborn sessions that include birth stats.    They look great on  a coffee table or on ledge and  you can flip the cube to change the display whenever they want. With layered wood block displays there’s endless opportunity to create an original piece. You can tell your story  through multiple images with the layered wood block displays.

Put your photos in an album or book.  They are a beautiful and fun way to capture your favorite memories. Books and albums are a great way to display all the images from your session including the ones you want but also the  ones you may  love but wouldn’t purchase otherwise.  Everyone loves mini accordion books. People love mini books because of their portable size and the amount of images that fit inside. These make great mini gifts for friends and family.  Also, the books make great guest albums for high school seniors and for at weddings.

Family {SE MN Family Portrait Photographer}

One of my absolute favorite spots to have sessions at, beautiful trees, grass, light and we can get an amazing sunset at as well. These photos are from the Fall of 2017, and this family has grown by adding 2 more grandchildren. However, I wanted to share it as I just love this session and the truck they restored was the icing on the cake.
