The results are in for the Local Contest!  The results for the National Contest will be in November.

2022 Adorable Children Contest Voting {SE Minnesota Children Photographer

The time has come to vote for your favorite entry in our Adorable Children’s Portrait Contest! You may vote once a day for one image or a couple of images, but only one vote for an image once a day from now until Tuesday, October 25, 2022, at 12 pm central standard time. Then on Wednesday, October 26, 2022, the winners will be announced from the local contest. The National winners will be announced in November. You can share this blog post with friends and we have a link on Facebook, too.

The top 7 winners with the most votes in the local Photography by Kari Adorable Children’s Portrait contest will receive a 16×20 print ($105 value) of the winner’s choice from the session used to enter the contest. The Grand Prize winner of the local contest will also receive a Standard Session and a 5×7 session brag book from this session (a $455 value). 16×20 image choices for the winners need to be chosen by Friday, October 28th. Please e-mail Kari with your choice before then.

National Farmer’s Day {MN Farm Portrait Photographer}

Today is National Farmer’s Day and it is a day that offers much-deserved praise to the hard-working farmers across the nation. In the midst of harvest season, the day pays tribute to the men, women, and families who put food in the grocery stores and on our tables every day. Farm and ranch families comprise less than 2% of the U.S. population, but each farm feeds 166 people annually in the U.S. and abroad.

Being that it is National Farmer’s Day, I thought I would share some photos I took of my Dad planting this spring. And of course had to add some that I took of Maverick while taking photos of my Dad working since he was there, too. I also grabbed a photo I took of the corn at sunset back in mid-September to show off my Dad and Mother Nature’s hard work.

MN Senior Portraits {MN Senior Portrait Photographer}

MN senior portraits…. I love working with seniors. And getting to work with families multiple times when each of their children become high school seniors for their MN senior portraits is such an honor. But getting to take portraits with a senior and their animals is one of my favorite things and I have been lucky enough to be able to do that twice with this family!   

We started Aubrey’s senior portrait session at the studio in Spring Valley, MN, and then headed to the beautiful outdoor location,  Forestville State Park, to capture some MN senior portraits with the old town buildings, fall colors, and with her horse.  While down there we saw a couple of groups of riders and while taking photos, Aubrey noticed a horse she had trained this summer at her job. So she got to catch up with the owner and see how the horse was doing. How cool is that?! 

Aubrey is just stunning and I loved seeing how much she loves her animals!! If you have pets that you want to include in your senior portrait photos, I 100% urge you to include them. Your senior portraits should include your passions/hobbies/items/animals that are important to YOU.

Senior Portrait Season {Stewartville MN Senior Photographer}

It’s senior portrait season for the Class of 2023!

AJ is a high school senior from Stewartville High School. It was great to meet AJ back in August for his senior portraits! We had a great time photographing AJ and it was fun to catch up with his Mom as well since we graduated together from Stewartville as well. We had an awesome time wandering around Masonic, a family friend’s house that is one of my FAVORITE locations, and the Stewartville High School baseball field, chatting and taking photos.
